Answers to common questions about the Dance Arts app.
Getting Started
How do I create an account?
Download the Dance Arts app from the App Store or Google Play. Open the app and tap Sign Up to create a new parent account using your email address. Once your account is created, you can add your children and browse available classes.
How do I add a child to my account?
After signing in, go to the Settings tab and select Manage Children. Tap Add Child and enter your child’s name and date of birth. You can add multiple children to a single parent account.
Classes
How do I add a class for my child?
Go to the Classes tab to see the full class schedule. Tap any class to view its details, then tap Add Class to associate it with one of your children. Adding a class in the app organizes your schedule and unlocks messaging with that class’s instructor — it does not register your child for the class at the studio. To officially register, visit the Parent Portal or contact the studio directly.
How do I remove a class?
Open the class detail page from the Classes tab and tap Remove Class. This removes the class from your app view and removes messaging access for that class. It does not automatically withdraw your child from the class at the studio — contact the studio for any enrollment changes.
Can I filter classes by day or dance style?
Yes. On the Classes tab, use the filter options at the top of the screen to narrow classes by dance style, day of week, or search by name.
Messaging
How do I message my child’s instructor?
You can message an instructor directly from the class detail page for any class your child is enrolled in — tap Message Teacher. You can also start a new conversation from the Messages tab by tapping the compose icon and selecting a contact.
Why can’t I message a certain instructor?
Messaging is only available for instructors of classes your child is currently enrolled in. If you need to reach an instructor whose class your child has not been added to in the app, contact the studio by phone or email.
Can I message other parents?
No. The messaging system is designed only for direct communication between parents and studio staff (instructors and administrators). Parent-to-parent messaging is not available.
How do I contact studio administration?
From the Messages tab, tap the compose icon and select Studio Admin to start a direct conversation with the studio office.
Announcements & Feed
Where do I see studio announcements?
Announcements appear on the Home tab. Unread announcements are highlighted. You’ll also receive push notifications for new announcements if you’ve opted in. Class-specific announcements are only shown if your child is enrolled in that class.
Notifications
How do I turn on push notifications?
When you first use the app, it will ask if you’d like to enable notifications. You can also manage this at any time from Settings > Notifications. You can choose which types of notifications you receive.
How do I turn off push notifications?
Go to Settings > Notifications in the app and turn off the notification types you don’t want. You can also disable all notifications from your device’s system settings (iOS: Settings > Dance Arts > Notifications; Android: Settings > Apps > Dance Arts > Notifications).
Push notifications aren’t working — what do I do?
Push notifications require a physical device — they do not work in simulators. Check that notifications are enabled in both the app settings and your device’s system settings. If notifications are enabled but not arriving, try signing out and back in to refresh your notification token.
Account & Privacy
How do I delete my account?
Go to Settings > Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm before anything is deleted. Deleting your account removes your profile, your children’s information, and your message history. This action cannot be undone. Alternatively, email us at sarah@dancearts-sdt.com and we’ll handle it for you.
How do I update my email address or password?
Account credentials can be updated from the Settings tab. If you’re locked out of your account, use the Forgot Password option on the sign-in screen, or contact the studio for assistance.
